How PopUpAt Works

We're the matchmaker, not the middleman. Here's how we help venues and vendors connect for mutually beneficial partnerships.

What is PopUpAt?

PopUpAt is a platform where local venues (bars, breweries, coffee shops, retail stores) meet local vendors (food trucks, bands, craft vendors, pop-up shops) to create awesome collaborations.

Think of us like a dating app, but for business partnerships. We help you find each other, and then you take it from there.

Important: Most partnerships work best as mutual benefit—you bring the crowd, they bring the vibe. But if your arrangement works better with payment (like hiring a band), that's between you and your partner.

The Simple Version

  1. Sign up (free during beta until October 2025)
  2. Create your profile — tell us about your space or your service
  3. Browse and connect — find partners that match your vibe
  4. Work it out — you and your match decide the arrangement that works for both of you

How Partnerships Actually Work

Here's the thing: we're not here to tell you how to run your collaboration. Every partnership is different, and that's what makes this cool.

Real Examples

🍺 Brewery + Food Truck

A brewery has a slow Tuesday night and an empty parking lot. A taco truck wants more regular gigs. They connect on PopUpAt. The food truck parks outside, brings customers who buy beer. The brewery gets foot traffic, the truck gets sales. Everyone wins. No money between them—just mutual benefit.

☕ Coffee Shop + Local Artist

A coffee shop wants weekend energy. A ceramics artist needs a pop-up space. They match on PopUpAt. Artist sets up a table on Saturdays, sells mugs and bowls. Coffee shop gets interesting vibes and new customers. Artist gets visibility and sales. Again—no payment to each other, just good business.

🎸 Bar + Local Band

A bar has an open stage on Thursdays. A band needs regular gigs to build a following. They find each other through PopUpAt. Band plays, bar sells drinks, crowd grows. Maybe the band passes a tip jar, maybe the bar buys them drinks. Whatever works for them.

🛠️ Hardware Store + Scout Troop

A hardware store has weekend foot traffic but wants more community presence. A scout troop needs fundraising opportunities. They connect on PopUpAt. Scouts set up a table selling wreaths or doing a car wash in the parking lot. Store gets goodwill and families browsing the aisles. Scouts hit their fundraising goal. Pure collaboration.

What We Do (And Don't Do)

✅ We DO:

Connect you with local partners who are looking for the same kind of collaborations you are. That's it. That's the service.

❌ We DON'T:

Manage financial arrangements. Whether your collaboration is purely symbiotic or involves payment, those details are between you and your partner.

Manage your events. We're not event coordinators. We just help you find each other.

Get involved in disputes. If something goes sideways, you work it out like adults. We're the introduction service, not the referee.

The Bottom Line: PopUpAt helps you find partners. What you do after that—free collaborations, paid gigs, revenue shares, whatever—is completely up to you. We're the connection point, not the middleman.

Symbiotic Partnerships vs. Paid Arrangements

Most PopUpAt collaborations work as mutual benefit—the venue gets energy and foot traffic, the vendor gets exposure and sales. But some arrangements (like trivia hosts or specialized services) may involve payment. Either way works! We're here to make the connection, you decide what makes sense for your partnership.

Why Only $5/Month?

Because we're not taking a cut of anything. We're not processing payments or booking events. We're running a simple platform that helps local businesses connect.

The $5/month covers our costs (servers, development, keeping the lights on) and that's it. We keep it cheap so everyone can afford to try it out.

Still Have Questions?

What if my match doesn't show up?
Getting ghosted sucks. We recommend doing your homework—read their profile, stalk their socials, do a vibe check on a phone call before committing. But like anything in life, sometimes people disappoint you. PopUpAt can't fix that, but we can help you find someone better next time.

Can I have multiple partnerships at once?
Absolutely! That's kind of the point. Mix it up, try different vendors, keep your space fresh.

Can I have multiple profiles?
Yep! Your first profile is included with your $5 subscription. Need more? Additional profiles are just $1/month each.

Can I be both a vendor and a venue?
Of course! Own a restaurant and a food truck? Run a bar but also knit hats with pom-poms on the side? Create as many venue and vendor profiles as you need. We don't judge—we celebrate hustle.

What if I want to charge for my space/service?
You can work that out directly with your partner. PopUpAt doesn't handle money, but we're not stopping you from negotiating your own terms.

Is there a contract?
Not through us. If you want a contract with your partner, go for it! But PopUpAt is just the introduction service.

What if something goes wrong?
We're not insurance, we're not lawyers, and we're not event coordinators. You're both adults running businesses. Figure it out together. We're just the place you met.
